Summary of the Introduced Bill

SB 191 -- Elected Municipal Officials

Sponsor: Goode

Under current law, vacancies in elective municipal offices in
St. Louis County must be filled by special election. This bill
requires vacancies to be filled by appointment by the mayor,
subject to advice and consent of the city council.

The bill also allows third class cities to eliminate the office
of marshal if the city contracts with another entity for police
service. Under current law, third class cities must elect a
marshal.
